Reentry 2030 unites government and community leaders across justice, housing, health, and workforce sectors around one bold goal: Reduce recidivism 30% by 2030. Led by The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center and supported by partners and advisors, the initiative brings together leaders across states and systems to turn that ambition into action.

Learn about each state’s goals and progress:

We partner with state leaders to design and implement data-driven, cross-systems plans. Together, we work to break the harmful and costly cycles between incarceration, homelessness, hospitalization, and unemployment—and set people up for a second chance after prison or jail.

What People Need for Success After Incarceration

In states that join the Reentry 2030 network, the CSG Justice Center helps policymakers, public agencies, employers, and practitioners increase access to these basic reentry needs through:

  • Direct assistance from experts
  • Access to a national network of leaders
  • Elevation of states’ impacts

Our progress looks different in every state. We’re:

  • Establishing statewide reentry councils
  • Expanding Medicaid coverage
  • Making prison phone calls free
  • Launching pre- and post-release education programs
  • Building transitional housing
  • Creating employer incentives
  • Expanding access to licensed jobs
  • …and so much more
